At first smack it is a bit reminiscent of an X-ES or X-EQ(audio control).
Not all vegetables make good leaders.
I thought since it said Voice of the Highway that it predated Sparkomatic?

Yup, I think it could be Sparkomatic.
Quality Demands New Name Sparkomatic Corp. Calls It Altec Lansing - Philly.com
Being of "Sound" Mind
"Now Sparkomatic is upscaling its image with a new line of limited distribution, premium-quality car and home loudspeakers bearing the respected logo of Altec Lansing - one of the original purveyors of quality sound gear.
To intensify brand awareness, the new Altec Lansing Consumer Products company will spend more than $1 million to advertise the line in 1987 - the biggest print campaign ever attempted by an audio company, says Anchel. ''Within five years, we expect to be one of the top sellers of premium audio products, in the same league with companies like JBL, Polk, Bose, Boston Acoustics, Infinity, Cerwin Vega and ADS.""
Altec Lansing Consumer Products is Sparkomatic, or rather was. The Altec brand is now owned by a marketing company.
There was some Altec engineering expertise involved for a bit. Not sure how long. Any consumer stuff after somewhere 83-84 isn't real Altec.

The REAL Sparkomatic.
They sold all kinds of performance parts in the 50's and 60's and were a big sponsor of drag racing in general.
Especially famous for their shifters.

Kinda like Phase Linear, KLH, AR, Fisher....many companies once had good will, now it just gets traded on...

What have the most successful audio companies have in common? MARKETING! (think Bose, JBL, ...) If only Altec, the best of the best, had actually done some, they might still be pumping out M19'a and A7's.![]()
